Where can I buy custom furniture?

Custom upholstered furniture is everywhere. Many brick and mortar retailers now offer custom options.

Hundreds of American furniture manufacturers have shut their doors since the 1990s. Some of the best upholsterers who were laid off opened their own small custom shops.

Many retail stores also offer custom options for upholstered furniture.

Custom wood furniture is more difficult to find. It is largely relegated to smaller artisans.

There are a few larger manufacturers (primarily at the upper end) who offer highly customizable options.

Experienced interior designers will often have access to lines of custom furniture or individual craftspeople not available to the general public.
