Fable Porch, Danbury, NC (336) 793-0112
As master craftsman and founder, furniture has been my life. I started working in the industry while in college and never looked back.
Mastering speciality finishes on nights and weekends, I founded my first custom furniture company in 1993 in Winston-Salem NC. Back then, furniture makers, large and small, made furniture pretty much their way, and that's the way it was.
Custom changes in size & color outside of what they offered could be expensive, if offered at all. So a new way of doing things was born and would eventually culminate in what folks today know as the Fable Porch series by March Legend ®.
We are the original custom country & cottage furniture company.

Good Intent Farm, East Berlin, PA (717) 259-5787
Bob Barbour has always liked this kind of furniture and always seemed to find originals at auctions and out of the way spots. When he couldn't find just the right thing for his retail stores, he started making various pieces out of odds and ends and the response was encouraging.
Folks would tell him what they wanted in the way of unique, affordable pieces to use everyday in their homes. Since Bob has always had a keen eye for primitive pieces (and never forgets a terrific color or unusual original) he began sketching his own designs and to this day has literally hundreds of those sketches and photographs of period furniture.

During my earlier years as an antique furniture restorer and, later, as a designer and craftsman, I have been influenced by many fine pieces that span the furniture spectrum. But I hold a particular place in my heart for the unique legacy left by the Cotswold Craftsmen of the English Arts & Crafts movement. They believed that working with the hands nurtures the human spirit, and I hope that this philosophy is evident in my work too.
It is my goal that every piece of furniture I create will provide a lifetime of pleasure and use for you and those loved ones who give it a new home in future generations.

I print them with a silkscreen process using special textured embossing inks, and treated with antiquing glazes. The modern wood finishes are light-fast and durable. They are then treated with a hand-rubbed dark antiquing wax to give a truly "aged look."
All clocks are then signed, dated, numbered and cataloged.
